This world is tough. We shame or diminish the ordinary. We chase the extraordinary. We chase the big stuff until there is hardship. In times of loss or illness, we just want the ordinary. This paint series is based on capturing "ordinary moments" through photographs taken that inspire me to create works of art.
To create these paintings, I start by scarring the wood panels and use various textures with molding pastes, preserved moss, or other mediums, then add resin and light behind them to create an effect that takes these paintings to another level. As someone with an incurable autoimmune disease, I aim to create a collection that helps me overcome my challenges and share them with others. This mixed media series will explore the love for life's ordinary moments, which are usually extraordinary in the moment that we take for granted, so I can come back to them in the harder moments. "Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars." - Rene Descartes

Multiple sclerosis, which means "many scars", is a condition that leaves us with scars on the nerve’s myelin, that we must live with. These scars can prevent us from experiencing the beautiful moments captured in this series.
